DESCRIPTION:Matthew Skinner \nWhat teeth tell us about the human evolutionary story? \nTeeth and jaws are the most commonly found elements in the human fossil record\, due to their high degree of mineralization and bone robusticity. As such\, they play a critical role in the reconstruction of important aspects of human evolutionary history. In this talk I will provide an overview of the evolution of teeth on the human lineage over the last 6 million years. In doing so I will review the ways in which dental remains allow us to reconstruct the human branch of the tree of life and understand key aspects of the lifeways of human ancestors related to diet\, life history\, developmental stress\, and paramasticatory behaviour. \nMatthew Skinner a obtenu un Bachelor of Arts en Archéologie en 2002 à Simon Fraser University\, à Burnaby\, en Colombie-Britannique\, Canada. Durant cette période\, il a travaillé pendant trois mois comme assistant de terrain en anthropologie médico-légale dans le cadre de la Taskforce sur les femmes disparues de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada\, ainsi que pendant six mois sous l’égide du Programme des Volontaires des Nations Unies au Timor oriental. \nIl a participé à ses premières fouilles paléolithiques à Pech de L’Azé (France) et Geissenklösterle(Allemagne). \nIl a ensuite obtenu un doctorat en Paléobiologie des Hominidés à The George Washington University en 2008\, sous la supervision du Prof. Bernard Wood (GWU) et du Prof. Jean-Jacques Hublin (Département d’Évolution Humaine\, MPI-EVA).
